| HDTV Plasma TV's |
Plasma HDTV presently offers the best value in larger screen TV's. The picture is sharp, can be viewed from an angle with the least wash-out and action scenes are comparable in quality to a CRT TV. Plasma screens are highly reflective and do reflect bright objects in the room. Also, older models suffer from color loss over time and short screen life. Newer models have adequately solved these two problems.

If your search is for a TV with a screen smaller than 32" you can find excellent pictures in the LCD flat panel models. The smaller LCD flat panels have much less screen distortion during action scenes. Some smaller TV's do not include an HDTV tuner which relegates them to using a cable box or other device in order to show an HDTV picture.
| HDTV DLP Projection TV's |
The DLP projection screen TV's are a favorite of
those wanting the largest screen with a quality picture at a reasonable price. DLP is less expensive than Plasma and when seen direct on the quality of the picture is good with good contrast. However, some users report a "rainbow" effect where the colors bleed off the image and cause eye strain and headaches. The higher end DLP TV's use three DLP projection chips which improve the quality significantly.

The weakness with LCD projection TV's centers around pixelation which makes the picture appear to be seen through a screen door. They also suffer from less contrast than other models, also. Newer models have significantly reduced these effects but they have not been totally eliminated in the design.
| HDTV LCoS Projection TV's |
LCoS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) is a new display technology that solves some of the problems with standard LCD screens and at a lower manufacturing cost. This technology is relatively new in HDTV's and needs a few generations of screens to be manufactured to reach suitable reliability.
